FriendStrip Kids Pro Review | The iPhoneMom

What started long ago as the funnies in Sunday papers grew into comic books that were read in school, cunningly hidden inside textbooks.  Then came the wave of graphic novels that grace library shelves with titles like Babymouse, and Captain Underpants. Current generations can now take it another step to the digital shelves and even generate their own strips with a  new app called FriendStrip Kids Pro.

There are over 80 scenarios with integrated special effects to act as a springboard for your family’s imagination.  I say family’s because this truly is an app that’s fit for all ages.  When we gave this app a run through you could see individual personalities come out by the scenario they chose.  I made a strip with my husband as the superhero with laser vision, while the girls chose along the lines of medieval knights and fairytales. Whatever your style is there’s sure to be a theme to fit.  We even found birthday cards to pantomime and email to friends and family.

Creating the strip is easy.  Select a theme and then a prompt within that.  The strip will download to your device. You’ll see the first cell and notice the placement of the illustrations.  Now tap the screen to open the shot. It’s up to you to put as much animation as you want into the strip by how much energy you put in your poses. On the camera screen you’ll still see some of the comic illustrations and a window to place your actor, then simply take the picture.  You can also edit the text in the bubbles to narrate the story you want. Fill in all the cells and presto you are a comic strip creator.  Maybe not not on par with Stan Lee but he had to start somewhere too :)

Our family spent a fun evening taking turns with the app, giggling and laughing as we posed and animated. FriendStrip would be a hit for play dates and sleep overs too. Anytime an app inspires us to use our imagination and get the creative process going I think its a winner. The fact that this app includes some comic relief is a true bonus!

This app is also available for Android on Google Play [1]
