Check, edit, download and upload files on your Thecus NAS with your iOS device
Most of us have surely faced this situation: You’ve backed up your pictures (on your Thecus® NAS) from your latest holidays where you hung out at a beautiful beach, visited breathtaking ruins of a long-forgotten time and had the party of your life. Of course you want to share the pictures and show them to your friends. Unfortunately you didn’t put them on your iPhone or iPad, which you are carrying around with you. The good news is that you can still access those pictures with the help of the FTPManager app.
You can download and install this app for free from the Apple app store here. This app enables your iPhone or iPad to communicate with a server through FTP (File Transfer Protocol â€" it is situated in layer 7 of the OSI model, which we covered a while ago here) so that you can exchange files between your iOS device and your FTP-enabled server.
After the app is installed, you are ready to go and access the files stored on your Thecus® NAS. Just connect to it by using the DDNS and your login and you can show off all your pictures. The app lets you do even more things: by accessing media files, you can also play them. PDFs can be read by either your standard reader app, or you can choose another app to open it. The upload of files from your iPhone or iPad is also as easy as downloading them, so that you can backup the pictures and movies from your iOS devices directly on your Thecus® NAS. Our two newest devices â€" the Thecus® N2520 and the N4520 â€" do of course support FTP functionalities and therefore let you enjoy these features.
