The Importance of the Number 1 for Bulldogs Fans Today

DadYouCrazy stops by to anticipate the season.

The dry spell is almost over.

1 may be the Loneliest Number.  Yet, the Number 1 is a great number.

Today is July 1. This day marks the last full month in which college football is comatose.

July 1 is exactly six months since January 1 when Aaron Murray led the Dawgs over Nebraska in the Capital 1 Bowl in Orlando.

So hold on fans. 1 more droll month; sure we can settle for the MLB All-star game by default.

But at the next calendar month flip, August 1, Georgia’s football team begins padded preparations. Then the news will accelerate, the interest will revive. August will be Zero Dark Month, September will be full.

Hang in there, friends, for 1 more month, which is the best possible rounding since CFB kickoff is 59 days away.  But there is the Hall of Fame bowl in 33 days, and NFL teams play exhibition games in August.

For the Dawgs: Have no “1” (or 2) in the loss column by Oct. 1, and UGA could make a real run at #1. Maybe Aaron Murray’s 11 jersey number could be symbolic. Or maybe Tramel Terry (wearing #1 on his jersey) will be a rising star.

Anyway, enough speculation; soon the 1 gridiron comes back to life.

1. The last football-less month for a while.
