Spotify, the streaming music service, has released an update for their Universal App for iOS that brings several new features and improvements to the service.  While some of the features are for iPhone and iPod Touch only, it is expected that all of the features will make it to iPad in an upcoming minor release.

Sporting a new logo, Spotify has brought a new Discover experience on iPhone.  This allows you to discover new music to listen to from the service to expand your musical horizons.  With that, the iPhone version also has a new Now Playing view

There are a handful of other updates and fixes in the Spotify app which are outlined in the awesomely funny Release Notes of the app.

• Improved: We’ve changed the order of the iPhone search tabs. Now it’s Artists, Albums, Tracks. (iPhone/iPod only.)
• Improved: We’ve moved the … context menu button in the Playlist and Album views to the top right of the screen. It’s better there. (iPhone/iPod only.)
• Fixed: Ford integration now works correctly when your iPhone/iPod is set to a language other than English.
• Fixed: In your playlist folders, “All Tracks” will now show you the actual number of tracks. 
• Fixed: We’ve sorted lots of crash issues too. 
• Fixed: The unread messages in your inbox will now update correctly.
• Fictitious: This app shares 73% of its DNA with bees.

Spotify is a free app and it is a Universal app for iPhone, iPad, iPad Mini and iPod Touch.  There are a range of services available including the ad-supported free version.  The Unlimited service is $4.99 per month and is ad-free while the Premium services is $9.99 per month and is ad-free and allows you to download music to listen to later when you are offline.
