Media Praises New Guggenheim Mobile App Developed by Tristan Interactive

Just a couple of weeks ago, Tristan Interactive, now a subsidiary of the Espro Acoustiguide Group, proudly launched a new mobile app for the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in NY; the newly released app has been unanimously praised by visitors, critics and the media alike.

“The Guggenheim app is gorgeous. And extremely well conceived; there is certainly much to learn from what they’ve done. Tristan Interactive did an amazing job and it will be fun to watch what they do next” reported a blogger in a Museum Computer Network discussion on LinkedIn.

“Never Get Lost in a Museum Again â€" Unless You Want To”, writes Mike Bloomberg (Entrepreneur, Mayor of New York City and Philanthropist), whose foundation funded the new app.

“We can harness that technology to improve the visitor experience in incredible ways. We could use GPS technology to help visitors find their way through labyrinthine galleries. We could use 3D imaging and scanning technology to allow visitors to get in-depth information on particular work.

The Guggenheim app will provide visitors with an enhanced experience before, during and after their time at the museum. Users can download information on exhibits using the app â€" all before even walking in the door. Once inside, a detailed floor map will ensure museum-goers don’t get lost, while multimedia tours provide in-depth looks at the museum’s collection and at new special exhibitions. Much of that information will even be available after guests leave the museum………. So if you live in New York â€" or are one of the millions who will visit our City this year â€" be sure to stop by the Guggenheim and use the new app to optimize your experience.” (Read article here [1] )

The app, launched in advance of the new James Turrell exhibition opening on June 21 at the Museum, provides a unique educational platform for visitors to the Guggenheim and users around the world. The interactive app presents an array of content, including rich multimedia guides to current and past exhibitions; interviews with artists, curators, and exhibition designers; access to more than 1,200 works in the permanent collection; and explorations of the iconic building designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The app has been designed to be accessible for visitors with disabilities.

The app is free and currently available for iPhone, iPod Touch, and Android devices. Download at guggenheim.org/app [2] , on iTunes [3] or Google Play [4] . At the museum, visitors may use the app on their own smartphone or borrow a device free of charge at the Multimedia Guide desk. (Guggenheim Press Release here [5] )
