iPhone app helps parents talk to their kids about drugs - Holland, MI

Parents, looking for ways to talk to your teen about drugs? There’s an app for that!

The Talk Sooner iPhone app gives families information about drug trends and tips for talking to teens about drug abuse. The informational tool stems from a partnership between the Lakeshore Coordinating and Ottawa, Allegan, Barry, Berrien, Kent and Muskegon counties.

Leigh Moerdyke â€" the children, youth and families program director of Pathways, MI â€" said the app provides parents with the information at their fingertips whenever they need it.

"They don’t have to wait until they get home to log onto the Talk Sooner website," she said.

Although the free app is only available for iPhones, there are plans to release similar apps for Android phones in the fall.

Throughout the app, parents can learn signs and symptoms to watch out for, if they suspect their teen is using or abusing drugs or alcohol.
