theScore has relaunched its popular mobile sports app specifically for the new BlackBerry 10 platform, and itâs adding live coverage to the list of features.
The TV business of Score Media was acquired by Rogers Media last year, but the digital media side was spun out to shareholders as a stand-alone operation, and it has now updated its slate of mobile application offerings.
The app has long been known and described as one of the most popular free sports apps available, used by more than three million people each month across its various iterations. It is available on iPhone, iPad, Android, & Windows Phone, theScore app for BlackBerry 10 can now be downloaded for free from the BlackBerry World [1] storefront.
In its most recent financial reports, theScore noted that the average monthly active users on its mobile platforms exceeded 3.75 million, with its flagship application for iPhone growing 73% over the comparable period a year before.
theScore was ranked as a Top 10 Sports App in Nielsenâs State of the Media: 2012 Year in Sports report, alongside apps from ESPN, Yahoo, MLB and the NBA.
The new BB 10 app provides up-to-the-second box scores, player stats, league leaders, betting odds, game previews, recaps, top stories, schedules and league standings.
Live coverage of Football (NFL), Basketball (NBA, NCAA Mens), Hockey (NHL), and Soccer (English Premier League, UEFA Champions League), with live coverage of theScoreâs full slate of additional professional and collegiate leagues coming soon.
Users can also customize the app to follow any team, or player or fantasy league player groups throughout the season to view their performances as they happen.
âtheScore worked closely with BlackBerry to ensure the app took advantage of all the great new features available on BB10,â said Jonathan Savage, VP, Products at theScore Inc. âThe Best in Class UI and clean look and feel are something weâre particularly proud of.â
