Last month, Rovio started hinting that a massive update for its popular Bad Piggies game was in the oven. The studio posted a teaser image to its Twitter account [1] that read “Road Hogs, coming soon.â€
As you’ve probably guessed by now, that update hit the App Store today. And as expected, it’s a big one. It features 3o new ‘Flight in the Night’ levels, 6 ‘Road Hog’ levels, new achievements and more…
From the release notes in the App Store:
“In this massive update to IGN’s 2012 game of the year, the Bad Piggies are on the move, and they’ve managed to hang on to the eggs so far! But watch out â€" you need to sneak past the napping Angry Birds, and they’re sleeping with one eye open! Navigate through 30 new Flight in the Night Levels but don’t make too much noise, or you’ll wake up some seriously furious birds! Also make sure to check out the new “Road Hogs†time trials: can you beat the clock (and your friends) with your crazy contraption?â€
In addition to the new Flight in the Night and Road Hog levels, there is also a new sandbox for you to show off your creativity. And 6 new achievements and a new ‘Road Hogs’ global leaderboard round out the update.
Bad Piggies was named IGN’s Game of the Year for 2012 [2] , among several of its other accolades. Admittedly, I haven’t played it much since I downloaded it last fall, but the new Road Hogs time trials look like a lot of fun.
If you already own the game, this update is a no-brainer. And if you don’t, the new content might be reason enough for you to check it out. You can find the app, for both the iPhone [3] and iPad [4] , in the App Store for $0.99.
