Foursquare (lifestyle 002)

If you own a business and spend time and money promoting it on the web, you should definitelly check out Foursquare’s brand new iOS app. Released Tuesday morning, Foursquare for Business is a handy sidekick that promises to help you get more customers walking through the door. The app can be used to post photo updates as your business, activate and deactivate specials, view customer tips, access analytics and more…

Harrison Weber of The Next Web [1] has more:

While there appears to be many limitations with this new app (for now) â€" specials must still be created on a computer and the app is only able to manage a few different physical locations â€" Foursquare for Business is still a major move for the company, as it lets managers take better control of their business on the social network.

Forusquare has a nice map of the last 500 million check-ins here [2] .

The app is currently limited to US-based merchants.

Foursquare for Business version 1.0 release notes:

• attract customers by posting beautiful photo updates
• share Foursquare updates on Facebook and Twitter
• view your location’s recent check-ins
• drive traffic to your stores with Foursquare specials
• learn more about your recent and most loyal customers

Foursquare for Business doesn’t cost a dime and is available now [3]  from the App Store.

The software is optimized for the iPhone 5, but it also works on the iPhone 3GS or later and third-gen iPod touch and up running iOS 5.0 or later. The iPad isn’t supported natively.
