A new mobile app called Gamblino allows users to bet on sporting events right from their iPhones.
Gamblino, which is available starting Friday, November 30, lets users wager on NCAA football and NFL games for free. Once a person downloads the app, he or she is given 1,000 free points with which to bet on various games throughout the day. Users enter contests at local bars in New York City, Chicago and Washington, D.C., and whoever has the most points at the end of that day's games wins prizes. The contests begin on Saturday, December 1.

Users can also challenge their friends to contests with this app and bet against other Gamblino users across the country. Winners of these national competitions could win prizes like a trip to the Super Bowl.
"We built Gamblino because there was no viable application out there that allowed friends to place and track friendly bets with each other," said Frank Wilson, co-Founder of Gamblino, in a release. "We thought if we could turn a normal bet between friends into a multi-faceted contest that engages various communities and networks, we could make sports betting much more social as well as accessible and fun for everybody."
The Gamblino app also includes live odds from Las Vegas and a "Help" button for those new to the sports betting scene.
"We made this app as user-friendly as possible, so anyone, from the die-hard sports fan to someone who just happens to be at the bar during a game, can enjoy it," Wilson said. "And from the most experienced gambler to someone that's never placed a bet in their life, Gamblino makes watching every game so much more fun."
Currently, the app is available only for iPhones, but it is being developed for other platforms as well. The company also hopes to expand to other professional and college sports leagues.
