New iPhone app TacheLapse allows men taking part in Movember to create a 30-second video using time-lapse technology that shows how their âtache grows over the course of the month, which can be shared on Facebook and Twitter.
Throughout November, men across the UK and worldwide will be growing moustaches to raise vital funds and awareness for menâs health, specifically prostate cancer and testicular cancer.
From today, participating âMo Broâs (the name given to guys taking part in Movember) will be able to download the free TacheLapse app from iTunes and the App store for iPhone. https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/tachelapse/id569511310?mt=8
Developed by London social innovations lab Gamaroff Digital, TacheLapse lets you take a photo of your moustache each day through the in-app camera and upload the resulting time lapse video straight to Facebook or Twitter. Each photo goes into your very own gallery, the contents of which are mashed together at the end to make up your 30-second time-lapse video where you can watch your âtache grow in hilarious fast-forward over the 30 days.
Weird, and slightly gross? Yes. However, TacheLapse honours the often considerable effort that a lot of men go to fashion their âtaches during Movember by immortalising their hirsute âjourneyâ for all to see. Leila Guddoy of Gamaroff Digital says: âTacheLapse is a great way to attract people to the Movember charity as the app links straight to the userâs social media channels. If youâre posting something entertaining such as this, itâs much more likely to go viral amongst your friends than say, just a static photo or status update. In this respect, you see the charityâs mentions go up tenfold.â British celebs who regularly take part in Movember include Stephen Fry, F1 champ Jensen Button, footballer Joey Barton and comedian Jason Manford. TacheLapse would make it easy for them to share their daily progress as well as give their fans a piece of cool video content at the end.
