Star Trek fans will be able to follow in their heroesâ footsteps by being âbeamed upâ at this monthâs Destination Star Trek London, with a new free augmented reality app.Â
The âBeam Me Up Appâ has been launched by CBS Action specifically for the expo and will see Trekkies stand on a purpose-built Star Trek platform before a friend points a smartphone at their silhouette. Once the phone is aligned correctly, their image will be seen to be beamed up through the phone's display.
A photo will automatically be taken through the app "mid-beam" so Star Trek fans will be able to prove that theyâve followed the likes of Captains Kirk and Picard in being teleported in outer space.
The Star Trek âBeam Me Up Appâ, developed by Realise Digital, is available to download free for iPhone and Android devices.
The Destination Star Trek London event takes place at Londonâs Excel Centre from 19 to 21 October.
