Smart Apps for Kids releases Top 100 Free iPad/iPhone Apps For Kids

Katy, Texas â€" Smart Apps for Kids, the most followed kids app review site, has released its Top 100 Free iPad/iPhone Apps for Kids. The meticulously prepared list does not include apps with third-party ads or in-app purchases that are too prominent. Apps that have any in-app purchases are labeled as such. The ranking of the Top 100 was determined by the interest the site’s readers showed in each app.

Did you know there are free kids apps from Lego, Disney, Thomas and Friends, Miss Spider, PBS Kids, National Geographic, Fisher Price, NASA, Domino’s, Hallmark, Star Wars, Google, BrainPop, The Electric Company, Whole Foods, Apple, Sprout, Easy Bake Oven, McGraw-Hill, the Exploratorium, Brain Quest and Scholastic? The Lorax, Mickey Mouse, Buzz Lightyear, Jake the Pirate and cartoon zombies all appear on the list.

There are apps that assist children in learning letters, numbers, phonics, words, colors, shapes, animals and foods and a few that assist teachers and parents. Also included are free apps regarding internet, water and street safety, as well as one that helps teach children to dial emergency numbers.

There’s an app for that! If someone were to download all the apps on the list, they’d have an app for making a book, creating a whiteboard presentation, writing and directing a cartoon, building a Lego vehicle, ordering a pizza, visiting Disneyland and even dressing an octopus!

The list includes 17 storybooks, involving an alligator that needs friends, a little girl that helps a beaver whose home has been crushed by a tree and a baby tiger that can’t hunt because he’s too nice. Most of the Top 100 are classified by Apple as education or book apps, but there are still quite a few “just for fun” included.
