On Tuesday, the folks at Fiksu [1] reported contradictory finds when compared to other recent mobile reports that show iPhone app downloads slowing this year.
The new Fiksu study reveals that App Store competition rose a tad in June, while the cost to acquire loyal users climbed by 14.3 percent during the month.
The Fiksu App Store Competitive Index (which measures the average aggregate daily download volume of the top 200 free U.S. iPhone apps) increased slightly by 1.98 percent in June to 4.63 million daily downloads, up from 4.54 million in May, as the anticipated uptick in summer download activity kicked in.
âWhile caution was the keyword for last monthâs mobile marketing spends, renewed confidence appears to be Juneâs theme,â said Micah Adler, CEO of Fiksu. âWe observed a shift as brands resumed use of UDID as one of several attribution options to maximize their mobile advertising reach. This, combined with quarter-end spending, drove up loyal user acquisition costs during the month.â
If youâre not familiar, the Fiksu Indexes measure monthly fluctuations in competition for rank in the Apple App Store and also the cost to acquire loyal users.
