ITU, a Silicon Valley-based university offering Masters of Science in Engineering Management, will host a free one-day training workshop for iPhone/iPad application development on June 16.
San Jose, CA (PRWEB) June 01, 2012
International Technological Universityâs (ITU) Department of Engineering Management [1] in Silicon Valley is hosting a free one-day iPhone/iPad Application Development Training Workshop [2] on June 16, 2012 for programmers of all skill levels.
The introductory training workshop immediately follows the sold-out Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) and will include insight into the latest iOS and OS X technology, with an introduction to iOS development and Objective-C programming.
Rather than four days of training at WWDC with over 100 sessions and labs, developers with little to no experience can learn the basics of iPhone/iPad application development in one day at ITU.
Hosted by Dr. Hecker, professor of Software Engineering at ITU, the all-day event will be held from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at the ITU San Jose campus. Lunch will be provided. Space is limited to 200 attendees, so interested participants are encouraged to RSVP as soon as possible at http://itu.edu/appdev [3] .
âThere is a high demand for mobile app developers as many organizations are scrambling to get their content onto phones and tablets,â explained Dr. Hecker. âThe developers and engineers who can do that will be highly sought after in 2012 and beyond.â
The workshop will cover topics such as Model-View-Controller, building GUI and event-driven apps, UI development and storyboard concepts. Students will have the chance to practice iOS app development by building e-mail, web, maps and other apps.
Attendees will receive a Certificate of Completion from ITU and can potentially earn one CEU (continuing education unit). Students without a programming background are welcome, although some experience in C/C++ or Objective-C is preferred. Knowledge of any programming language will be needed in order to understand some of the source code writing.
Students are highly encouraged to bring their MacBook computers. In order to use XCode and the iPhone/iPad API, computers running OSX 10.5 Leopard or above are needed.
To be productive during the workshop, attendees are asked to visit itu.edu/appdev for the dayâs agenda and instructions for preparation.
This free iPhone workshop is intended to give students a preview of ITUâs Mobile Device Application Development Certificate advanced training program, designed for enthusiasts and industry professionals seeking opportunities in mobile application development on a variety of different device platforms, including iOS and Android-based phones, tablets, and other mobile devices.
A âfirst course freeâ coupon for the 12-credit, 4-course Certificate program will be raffled at the iPhone Application Development Workshop. This certificate provides an opportunity for professionals to expand their expertise in one of todayâs most in-demand and highest paying industries.

About ITU
Among seven graduate and doctoral level programs departments offered at International Technological University (ITU), the university also offers Certificate programs in technical fields. Engineering Management [6] is one such program that features practical training in a specialized type of management. The program is unique in that it trains students in both technical and managerial skills. Students who study in this department are more likely to have stronger technical, communication and coaching abilities above their counterparts.
ITUâs Engineering Management program is suited for students who have earned a Bachelorâs degree in engineering, mathematics, science, computer science, or any other closely related field.
