Chelsea Plan Increased £6m Bid for Wigan Winger Victor Moses

Chelsea are planning to make a second offer of £6million for Wigan striker Victor Moses.

Wigan last week rejected a £4m bid for the former Crystal Palace player, who has one year left on his contract.

Chelsea haven’t given up the chase, though, after being told by Wigan chairman Dave Whelan that their original offer “took the mickey”.

As revealed by Standard Sport earlier in the week, Florent Malouda is set to leave the Blues to move to Brazil this summer and Chelsea want Moses, 21, to replace him.

It appears that the Blues are very keen to continue their summer spending and are hoping to add the capture of Nigerian international Victor Moses to those of Eden Hazard and Marko Marin who both joined the West London club for a combined fee of around £38m.

Moses has reportedly made it clear he wants to leave the DW Stadium but Chelsea’s first bid was deemed as derisory and one wonders if an increased bid of just £6m, which is frankly peanuts in today’s transfer market, is going to make Wigan Athletic consider selling the young attacker.

Roberto Martinez saw his Wigan Athletic side display top four form over the final weeks of the last campaign which helped drag them clear of the drop and that was due in no small part to the terrific form shown by Moses, so one can see why Dave Whelan would be keen to keep the former England Under 21 international.

The Blues look to be planning for the future with a youthful transfer policy and with the likes of Salomon Kalou and Didier Drogba gone and Florent Malouda looking likely to follow, a move for renewed attacking options is a sensible one.
