Wolfenstein 3D free on iPhone, browser version launched to celebrate 20th anniversary

Hey, gamers. Wolfenstein 3D has just turned 20. And to celebrate the anniversary, it’s been made available free on the App Store for a limited period.

Wolfenstein 3D

A browser-based version, also gratis, has also been created to mark the occasion, offering three episodes and 30 levels from the classic shooter. But to enjoy the full game, with double the above amount of content, you need to download the iPhone edition - also compatible with the iPad and the iPod touch.

Developed in 1992 by John Carmack and co at iD Software, Wolfenstein 3D is widely credited as the title that pioneered the first-person shooter genre proper.

You assume the role of OSA super agent B.J. Blazkowicz as he attempts to escape from Nazi-occupied Castle Wolfenstein and take down his diabolical captors.
Gamers can choose between touch and tilt controls and enjoy all the memorable weapons and enemies from the original, including a showdown with MechaHitler!

What are you waiting for? Head over to the App Store [1] and start shooting.
