Skype app for iOS 4.0 update new features & fixes » Phone Reviews

Today we have news of the latest update for the Skype app for the iOS platform that brings it up to version 4.0, and brings with it some new features and some bug fixes for users to enjoy.

The Skype app allows users to call, video call and instant message anyone else that uses Skype for free via your iPhone or iPod Touch, and you can call or text your contacts or other numbers at the low Skype rates using the great value Skype Credit.

The application is a free download and works over Wi-Fi or a 3G connection, and there is now an optimized version for owners of the iPad version. Using the front or rear facing cameras users can make free video calls with their Skype contacts wherever you are.

Users can send free instant messages for an instant response and Skype to Skype calls offer near CD quality audio with wideband audio on the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPad, and iPod Touch 3G and later. The original iPad and iPod Touch 3rd generation only receive video only, and it works with any H264 compatible devices including TVs.

This latest version of the Skype app for iOS brings some new features that includes the ability to move own video preview, app automatically restarts if unexpectedly shut down, enhanced stability, improved accessibility, improved design for contacts and messages, UI enhancements, and a number of bug fixes.

Skype 4.0 is available as a free download on the App Store [1] and requires iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPad and iPod touch running iOS 4.3 or later.
