Hide the Fart by Santpal Dhillon gets users to break wind at a bus stop at the same time vehicles speed past in order to drown out the noise.
The comedy game secured top spot in the free iPhone app charts, beating the puzzle app 100 Floors by Tobi Apps Limited into second place.
The free messaging system WhatsApp Messenger continued its dominance of recent weeks by topping the paid-for iPhone app chart.
The app, from WhatsApp Inc, allows cross-platform mobile messaging that lets people exchange messages without having to pay for SMS.
The best-selling game series Grand Theft Auto has proven a huge hit once again after makers Rockstar Games released a version for the iPad and iPhone.
Grand Theft Auto III topped the paid-for iPad charts and finished third in the list of best-selling paid-for apps for iPhone this week.
