LogMeIn launches free remote access iPhone app

LogMeIn has launched a free version of its popular remote access app for iPad and iPhone .

The app allows iOS device users to remotely view, access and control their PCs or Macs from their iPad or iPhone, anywhere with an internet connection, and is a free version of the firm's LogMeIn Ignition app . Once you've downloaded the app onto an Apple iPad or iPhone, simply install LogMeIn Free on any PC or Mac, and then remote access can begin. The free app offers unlimited remote access through using a secure AES 256bit encryption with SSL and TLS intrusion detection so users can access files or run programs remotely.

LogMeIn also offers an in-app option to upgrade to the £27.99 LogMeInPro package that build on this with HD remote access for streaming video and audio, integrartion for web-based storage services and the ability to copy, move, and save files or folders from remote computers directly onto the iPad, iPhone or iPod touch for offline viewing.

Anyone that previously purchased the £20.99 LogMeIn Ignition , will be given the capabilities from LogMeInPro free of charge.

"Mobile devices have given rise to an entirely new audience looking to remotely access their computer files and applications on the go. Not surprisingly, mobile has become an increasingly important driver for introducing new people to LogMeIn's services, and we believe we're just scratching the surface of this growing demand," said Michael Simon, president and CEO of LogMeIn.

"By combining our mobile and free service strengths, we can bring the benefits of top-shelf remote access to virtually anyone and everyone with an iPhone or iPad."

LogMeIn said a version of the app for Android devices is planned for later this year.
