Examining The iPhone 3GS Smart Phone

You’ve probably heard all sorts of chAT&Ter about the iPhone 5 that is about to be released and with all of that chAT&Ter it is no wonder that you’ve probably forgotten about older models like the iPhone 3GS. In fact, this can be a good time to purchase this phone, as AT&T is offering a special promotion for it right now. It is a good idea, though, before you buy this or any smart phone, that you familiarize yourself with all of its features.

If you’re a reader it is good to know that it is possible to read books on your iPhone 3GS. You can download the free iBooks app from the Apple App Store and then have access to more than 200,000 books. Lots of these books are cost fee but each of the books you pay for is still cheaper than buying the book in hardcover or paperback. You can also get the Kindle app which gives you access to the books that are available for the Amazon Kindle. That means that when you own an iPhone 3GS you won’t have to purchase an e-reader (Kindle or otherwise), because your phone serves that purpose. The primary drawback, of course, is the screen’s smaller size so if you really like to read e-books, you should still think about a Kindle or an iPad to serve this purpose.

The iPhone 3GS gives you many options for storing, editing and sending photos. Regardless of how you do it, photos on this phone can be organized based upon who they are of and where they were taken. Photo editing can also be enhanced after you download apps to help you complete your project. The Crop For Free app, for example, does just what the name suggests, allowing you to easily crop any of your photos to your satisfaction. Your images can be further altered the using iRetouch Lite. You can even edit multiple groups of images by downloading the right apps to your iPhone.

You can find one really great app that works fantastic if you are a runner. On the other hand, it may even motivate you to start running, which is a healthy activity for anyone to do. This app is called Nike+ and was developed jointly by Apple and Nike. There is a sensor that you can place into your Nike running shoe that will connect to a receiver within your iPhone (and iPod). This will help you keep track of the progress you make when you run: your speed as well as your distance. A bluetooth headset gives you the ability to talk on the phone and run at the same time. The Nike+ app is currently free but that might be a limited time offer.

Advanced cell phone technology, especially that found with the iPhone 3GS, is difficult to find at such a low price. You might want to get a higher priced phone with more features, however, you should think about the iPhone 3GS and all of the capabilities that it has for such a low initial cost.
