Do you enjoy shooting guns without the actual loading and reloading? Without the destruction they may actually cause to you or someone else? Shotgun Free 2: Duel is one of the free iPhone apps [1] that allows you to do just that! Load your gun, cock your gun and fire all in just a few short and simple steps.
When I first loaded up this app I was pleasantly surprised. It took me a few tries to figure out how to actually do it but it was pretty simple and then I felt a little silly for the confusion. You can select a duel or a single play which is what I was doing initially. I then ventured off to duel and found it to be just as fun, well, actually a little better.
When I finally ventured off into something a little more appealing, dueling against others, I was surprised at how long it took to load the duel lobby. However, I did soon realize that it is based on your 3G connection or your Wi-Fi so it became obvious pretty quickly what the holdup was. I then also learned that you need to be playing with a friend and since I didn’t have any around at the time I had to put that one on hold.
I did eventually get my wish, I played duel and found it was very fun and even laughable. Normally when you are staring down the barrel of a gun it’s not something to laugh about but this game is safe and fun. I certainly wouldn’t recommend it for small children though, be a responsible adult and keep real and fake guns away from children!
One thing about this game that I did love was the sound effects. It actually sounds like you’re cocking a real gun. It was so close to the real sound that you could probably scare away intruders with your iPhone game; not that I would recommend that of course. Because it sounded so real that is one reason why I would leave this game as far away from children as possible. There should actually be an, are you 18 or older question prior to downloading but that’s just my opinion.
I have to admit that I have never downloaded a game before that was anything like this. You simply shake your phone in an up and down motion to cock the gun and then aim and press the screen to fire. How simple could that be? Because it’s so simple it would be easy for children of all ages but because of the content, I’d advise against it.
Overall, whether you like to play the single mode or the duel mode it’s still a joy to play and it’s so life-like. Great free apps are hard to come by but I would recommend this to my friends and family since I am enjoying it so much and besides on a cold, wet and rainy day playing duel would bring some fun into the room.
