Mimecast Extends Mobile Strategy with Mobile Archive Access for iPhone

WALTHAM, Mass., Nov 30, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Mimecast(R), the leading supplier of cloud-based email archiving, continuity and security for Microsoft Exchange and Office 365, today announced that it has extended its mobile services to the iPhone. With the Mimecast iPhone App, employees gain a bottomless mobile inbox, and the ability to search and access archived emails from their mobile device. The new Mimecast iPhone App is free and available now for download from the App Store.

Mimecast's new flexible Mobile Access licensing plan, also announced today, includes support for Mimecast archive search from iPhone and BlackBerry devices and email continuity for BlackBerry users. This enables IT managers to give end users access to their email archive service from multiple mobile devices, without the cost and complexity of managing multiple licenses for different device types. Mimecast will extend the new licensing plan to other mobile platforms over the coming months, including Windows Mobile and Android devices.

"Consumerization of IT is here -- employees are increasingly showing up to work with their personal devices, and businesses need to realize enterprise mobility is no longer a nice-to-have," said Peter Bauer, CEO of Mimecast. "Our Mobile Access for the iPhone builds on our existing mobile strategy, which enables organizations to increase mobile workforce productivity and agility within a secure environment. By extending our Mobile Access offering to the iPhone, and soon to other platforms, enterprises both large and small can give their entire workforce increased flexibility and ensure employees can remain productive, regardless of device or location."

Apple recently cited that 91 percent of Fortune 500 companies have either adopted the iPhone within the enterprise, or are testing the device for deployment.i With the new Mimecast App, iPhone users gain access to an unrestricted mobile inbox and comprehensive mobile search capabilities, including the ability to search the entire email archive. This search feature allows users to hone in on particular dates, senders and even content in specific parts of the email such as subject line, attachments or message headers. The application also presents users with a mobile "Online Inbox," giving them uninterrupted access to all new and received emails, even when their Exchange service is down.

"Mobility is critical to our employees' success, regardless of the mobile device," said, Avi Solomon, Director of Information Technology at Becker & Poliakoff, PA. "With Mimecast's Mobile Access for the iPhone deployed to both iPhones and iPads, we have been able to provide our workforce with a tool that is a natural mobile extension of our existing systems, enables them to maintain productivity within a secure and compliant environment and extends to them volumes of information, which was previously only accessible from their desktops."
