The Daily App: Fast Contacts for iPhone

For anyone who has more than 500 or so contacts to manage at any given point in time, it can often be frustrating â€" even with Apple’s strong contact management functions in the iPhone â€" to cut through lists quickly to find exactly who, or exactly which group, you need at any moment.

If that’s the case, it’s worth giving a look at an iOS app, Fast Contacts, Provided by developer Spiceloop. Fast Contacts is a free download from the Apple iTunes App store and it’s one of the more handy free apps for handling contacts that we’ve yet run across.

What we like about Fast Contacts: This app allows you to sort through your contacts not just by first or last name, but by geography, company, specific events, or by contacts with photos. It also supports contact groups that you may have created in the iPhone’s native Contacts app, and supports apps that, for example, will mashup social networking information with your contacts’ entries. It provides “search as you type” options, and “themes” (essentially color settings).

But perhaps the niftiest feature of Fast Contacts is that it will assemble your contact photos and allow you to flip through them, in landscape mode, just like you would album covers in iTunes. That feature alone will make it worth it for many to use.

The result: it’s now possible to find someone’s contact information in milliseconds or seconds where it used to take seconds or minutes, respectively.

It’s an app that does what its name actually implies: it lets you find your contacts fast - or at least faster than you can now.
