SBS Content Hub has released an iOS app for Protect the Boss Korean drama to take advantage of the drama’s popularity (for more revenue). The Protect the Boss app is available for free download on iTunes, but fans will need to pay a hefty $5.99 to access the full content available.
The free Protect the Boss app allows users to download and watch the recent last 2 episodes of the drama directly from within the app, for free without extra charge. For complete VOD streaming or downloading of whole series of Protect the Boss, in-app purchase of $5.99 to upgrade to full version is required. SBS promises to publish an episode after 2 hours of its broadcast on TV, and watching one episode will roughly incurs about 300 MB of data usage.
The main problem with the app is that you will need to know Korean to use it, as it’s only available in Korean language. What’s worse is that it’s only available in Korea’s iTunes App Store. It means that you need to register for an Korea’s iTunes App Store account in order to download the app.
