iPhone 4 – 5 reasons to own it instead of an iPhone 5 « Fonehome

We all know that the iPhone 5 is just around the corner, but that doesn’t mean we should all discount the outgoing iPhone 4 . Here are five reasons why now would be an excellent time to finally jump on board the iPhone 4 bandwagon.

Still a potent handset
The iPhone 4 remains a high class smartphone. For one thing, its A4 processor is still capable of matching if not besting all of the mid-range handsets released over the past year or so – only the expensive dual-core smartphones can top it for raw grunt. Just search YouTube for videos of Infinity Blade or Real Racing 2 and you’ll see what it’s capable of.

Then there’s that Retina display screen which, while small by modern Android standards, still knocks the spots off any other device for pure sharpness.

Unique design
Even more than a year on from its release, the iPhone 4 remains the best looking smartphone on the market. Its striking angular slab design and “beautiful old Leica” flourishes of metal and glass set it out as unique. Plenty have tried to copy it, and all have failed.

We should also point out that the iPhone 5 more than likely won’t look anything like the iPhone 4. In fact, there’s a very good chance it won’t look as good, judging from the mini- iPad 2 -meets-iPod touch picture that’s slowly being painted for us by a dozen rumours and leaks. If you value style and beauty in your gadgets, the iPhone 4′s still one of the most attractive phones around.

Apple support
Apple doesn’t cast its old devices off when the next new thing comes along, like many other manufacturers. As you can see from the number of iPhone 3GS handsets still out and about – and still being sold brand new – Apple continues to include its older devices in with its software updates.

This means that the iPhone 4 will remain relevant and compatible with apps and games for years to come.

iPhone 4S
The rumour is that Apple will be launching a cheaper device alongside the iPhone 5 – or at least around the same time. This so-called ‘ iPhone 4S ‘ will reportedly be a reconditioned iPhone 4, possibly utilising inferior components to the 15 month-old device.

This simply goes to emphasise that the iPhone 4 architecture will receive Apple support for some time to come, and owners of a brand new original iPhone 4 will quite likely have a superior device to those who opt for an iPhone 4S.
