Adelaide-based company Hub IT today launched its free NoQ iPhone application, which allows customers to place orders and pay remotely, without the need of special hardware for business owners.
Designed to serve businesses in hospitality, NoQ (no Queue) is an online ordering system, which can be used for purchases at multiple stores. Once a customer has placed his order and paid for it through his iPhone, the business owner issues a receipt and communicates a time for pick up, relying on an iPad tablet.Hub IT founder, Brad Moran, said NoQ would not only give users the possibility of jumping the queue, but would also help businesses to increase their revenue. “Business owners recognise that NoQ lets them better serve the iPhone generation without spending thousands of dollars to develop a dedicated iPhone app,” he said. “NoQ solves the queue problem for businesses, taking away the turn-off factor of a large line-up that might drive potential customers to go elsewhere.”
He said more than 70 stores from South Australia had already signed up to use the application, and that more were expected to join over the next 12 months. The company has already raised $1m in funding and plans to promote NoQ nationwide. It generates revenue by taking a percentage of each purchase made through NoQ.
Hub IT chief executive officer, Nigel Standish, said: “The beauty of this system for retailers is two-fold: Firstly, it increases their throughput by allowing them to serve more customers with the same number of staff. The other benefit is customers tend to order more when they don’t feel pressured by being at the front of a queue, so retailers will earn more per customer”.
