Geolocation iPhone/Android App Called Vidappe [“Vid-app”] Alerts All MTBA Riders of the Free Discounts they Can Use Around Boston

Boston, MA (PRWEB) August 31, 2011

Vidappe [1] , a location-based services app, alerts all Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority riders of the free discounts they can use around Boston as they’re going about their day thanks to their CharlieCard. Get close to a discount, get an alert – “15% off at Ben & Jerry’s a block away thanks to your CharlieCard.”

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority offers a fare card called the CharlieCard that people use to ride the Boston metro. The CharlieCard offers over 150 discounts at restaurants, museums, attractions, and more, all over the Boston area. Most of these discounts are easily accessible by the T, and can be redeemed simply by showing the merchant your CharlieCard. Not only is the CharlieCard a necessity for most Boston residents, this card doubles as a useful way to save all over town.

Vidappe has stored all 150 CharlieCard discounts offered within the app and will send the user an alert when he gets physically close to one around Boston. In addition to the CharlieCard discounts, Vidappe has stored the discounts for over 160+ other organizations around the US, ranging from metro transit stations to university alumni associations to schools. A user would subscribe to whatever organization he’s associated with, and will never again miss out on a perk because Vidappe will do the “remembering” for him. Vidappe is a convenient, simple, tool that will not only remember everything for the user but will make saving money virtually effortless.

“Savvy Los Angeles Metro riders know that their TAP cards are the key to great discounts around LA … but it can be easy to forget what’s available when you’re actually out and about,” writes Fred Camino, a blogger for the popular Los Angeles Metro Source blog [2] . “I’ve been using the app [Vidappe] for a few days now and have found it to be a great and unobtrusive way to remember where I can use my TAP card for discounts.”
