Who said the Christmas season didnât officially start until Black Friday? Well, okay, these days nobody says that. But for us Goyim, at least, the gift giving doesnât usually start for another few weeks yet. Linn â" whom you may remember as the company who delivers 24-bit studio master recordings directly to your speakers (assuming those speakers are made by Linn, of course) â" is starting the good tidings and joy a little early, though, with its new â24-Bits of Christmasâ campaign.
Starting on Sunday, December 1, and running through December 24, Linn will be offering one free, 24-bit, Studio Master track on its website every day. Each track will be available for download for 24 hours only, so maybe you should set a Google Reminder now.
Actually, you donât even have to wait that long to get your first free download. Starting today, and running through Saturday, you can snag the first free offering from Linn: âChorus: And the Glory of the Lord [1] â from the Dunedin Consortâs excellent recording of Handelâs Messiah, in 88.2/24, all wrapped up in your choice of FLAC or ALAC. If high-res isnât your thing but you still want the free goodies, the track is also available in CD-quality FLAC or ALAC, as well as a 320kbps MP3 download.
Once the promotion begins for realsies this weekend, new cuts will be available every day between December 1 and 24, beginning at 10:00GMT (which translates to 5am for those of you in the eastern U.S, 4am here in Alabama, and 2am for those of you on the Left Coast). But the presents donât end on Christmas Eve; Linn also promises âa surprise giftâ will be offered between December 25 and 27.
And if youâre unsure how to play these high-resolution files, or if youâre not sure which download type is right for you, Linn has put together a handy guide called âChoosing a Download [2] .â
All of these freebies will be available on Linnâs special 24-Bits of Christmas website at www.linn.co.uk/christmas [3] .
