Wedding Registry Made Easy With New iPhone App

[prMac.com] Southlake, Texas - Planning a wedding just became a whole lot easier for those couples who have downloaded the Wedding Registry app for their iPhone, iPad2 or iPod touch.

An iList App, Wedding Registry is a powerful tool that promises to make the bridal registration process easy, exciting and best of all - fun!
Couples who may be feeling a bit overwhelmed right now with wedding planning can turn their hectic existence to an enjoyable one by downloading the free Wedding Registry App at the Apple App Store.

The bride- and groom-to-be can then visit any store and scan the barcode of any item. The information is seamlessly collected and categorized in their personal registry, both within the Wedding Registry App and on the companion website. The App makes it easy to add a photo of the suggested gift and add directions to the store where the product is sold. The couple now has a single registry no matter how many different stores they visit to register.

Once the registry process is completed, the couple effortlessly notifies either their entire guest list of family and friends or just a select few. It's that simple. "No other application offers a fully-contained wedding registry in the palm of your hand," says James A. McNeilly, CEO of HHI Classic Distributors, LLC, Southlake, Texas, which developed Wedding Registry, Baby Registry, and MyList among other mobile applications to make life easier and more fun.

McNeilly added that other major advantages, beyond the ease of scanning product bar codes, is that users can personalize their Wedding Registry App in several ways and perform several other wedding planning functions besides compiling a gift registry.

One feature is the ability to create and display a personalized wedding invitation by entering their names, a date and time, location, and provide maps for directions.

The powerful database features of Wedding Registry allow the user to manage multiple categories, sort items to single or multiple stores, and sort the list by store location addresses. Samples of categories include cookware, cutlery, electronics, bakeware, glass and bar, tabletop, home keeping, bedding and bath.
Wedding Registry also makes it very easy for friends and family to comparison shop by comparing prices of items in the list and identifying the store with the lowest price.

The personalized registry created by Wedding Registry can easily be accessed by friends, family and work colleagues who have an iPhone or iPad or by using a laptop, PC or tablet and connecting to the website which synchronizes with the couple's registry App. Once someone purchases a gift, they simply place a check by that item on Wedding Registry and others know that gift has been selected.
"Don't tie the knot without first downloading iList's free Wedding Registry," adds McNeilly, "make it easy on your friends and family so they can avoid the traffic, crowded malls and parking nightmares looking for the gift you'll love."

5 iPhone Apps That You Will Use Daily

By: Hillel Fuld [1]

Yes yes, we have all heard the numbers and they are ridiculous. The only thing 450,000 iOS apps give me as a consumer is a whole lot of confusion, especially in light of the fact that no company has really cracked the app discovery challenge. There are so many iOS apps out there, a new iPhone user literally does not know where to start.

Back in the olden days, I used to visit the App Store every day to find new and exciting apps, either in the Free section or among the apps featured by Apple. I have stopped doing that as it has gotten seriously overwhelming and 200 apps on my iPhone is more than enough.

Having said that, there are some apps on my iPhone that I use regularly and could not live without (well, I could technically live without them, but my quality of life would significantly decrease) and I figured you would want to know what they are.

The following are five apps I have on my iPhone that I use regularly and are definitely worth the download:

1: Echofon: The number of Twitter apps I have on my iPhone is borderline ridiculous. I mean an entire folder of apps that tweet is just insane. Having said that, my Twitter addiction is no less ridiculous and I need the Twitter app that I use to not hold me back. I have tried em all. Tweetbot, Tweetdeck, Tweetings, Maha, Osfoora, Tweetfire, Weet, and yes, Twitter. Each app has its advantages and disadvantages, but after all my tests, Echofon Pro comes out on top every time.

It is the fastest and more feature-packed Twitter app out there in my experience. There is of course a free lite version if you don’t want to pay the $4.99 and are not bothered by some in-app ads. If I were you, I would try out the free version and if you like it as much as I do, shell out the five bucks, you won’t regret it. Download it here [2] .

2: Facebook Messenger: Whether or not the Facebook Messenger app will kill SMS or not, is up for debate. What is not up for debate is that among all the UI changes Facebook makes and all the new apps and features it releases, this one is a keeper. I downloaded it as soon as it was available and with the exception of one time, the app has worked flawlessly and done what it was supposed to. [3]

If you have not yet downloaded the free app, and are a Facebook user (who’s not?) you are going to want to check this out. That is, assuming you are ok with appearing online all the time. Of course some people have issues with Facebook Chat so this app is not for them, but in my case, it has proven to be very convenient and I am a fan of the UI. Download it here [4] .

3: iLlumination: The App Store has way too many flashlight apps, and that is a fact. Like Twitter apps, I have tried many of them and iLlumination somehow managed to stay on my iPhone. At the end of the day, this app is a flashlight so there is only so much I can say but it definitely has just the right amount of customization to make it a sticky app.

You can define that the flashlight is turned on as you launch the app and you can define the color of the light itself. You can also make the light flash like a strobe and many other options. There is of course a free ad-supported version or a paid one with no ads. Download it here [5] .

4: QuickPix: For an app to replace the default Apple solution on the iPhone, it has to be really good and QuickPix is. The app has replaced the default Camera app on the iPhone and primarily for one reason. It is fast, super fast! QuickPix launches seconds before the Camera app would and includes almost all the same features and more. There is a video and camera mode, you can reverse the camera to the front facing one, and you can define settings like Auto Flash, Exposure, and White Balance.

There are also features not supported in the Camera app like the ability to snap a photo while taking a video or the ability to take photos in Burst mode at a speed you are not going to believe. To be honest, it has been giving me some issues since I upgraded to iOS5 but that is a beta version so no complaints there. Download it here [6] .

5: Meebo: As you might have noticed, 3/5 of the apps on this list are social but I guess that makes sense given the amount of time I spend on the social Web. When it comes to IM apps, like Twitter apps and flashlight apps, they are a dime a dozen. There are so many of them and I have tried them all. Some of the great IM apps I have tried include Fring, IM+, Nimbuzz, imo, and many others. Yet, somehow when I need to send an IM, Meebo is my go-to app.

It supports well over 100 networks including the big ones like AIM, Yahoo, Gmail, Facebook, and more. It does NOT have Skype but I have not found an IM app that does. Meebo loads fast and has been the most stable solution I have found in the last year or so. Oh, and it is free. Download it here [7] .

You think that was easy? Choosing just five apps to recommend out of hundreds? It wasn’t, but all five are great apps in terms of what they offer and how they offer it. I could have listed many more apps for you like Viber [8] , Tango [9] , Linkedin [10] , Flyscreen [11] , Daps’em [12] , WhatsApp [13] , Songify [14] , and NetTalk [15] , but I chose not to. Oh, crap!!

FIFA Superstars now available on iPhone: Manage your dream team on the go

Electronic Arts has had a heck of a summer in the mobile gaming space, especially where its Facebook games are concerned. Via Playfish [2] , both Pet Society [3] and Restaurant City [4] have taken the leap of faith to the mobile platform, and now FIFA Superstars [5] has joined suit. For the low, low price of “free,” you can now download FIFA Superstars from the iTunes App Store [6] for either iPhone or iPad (note: the game can be played on iPad, but is optimized for iPhone-only).

Once you download the game, you’ll be greeted with the mandatory EA Origin sign-up process. Origin is EA’s attempt at a social network and digital download service, of course focusing solely on EA’s titles, and if you already have an EA account, they’re one in the same, allowing you to login and start playing. From there, the gameplay seems to have been ripped straight from the Facebook game, allowing you to collect cards containing players and various stats, and then build a team using the best-of-the-best. You’ll then collect different equipment, implement new tactics to give your team the advantage, and can then take to the field to test your prowess.

As of right now, all of that sounds just fine, but the game itself seems to be running into some loading issues. We’ve tried on three devices to get the game to load, but it locks up after logging into Origin. We’d assume that these are just early-launch bugs, and that they will be cleared up shortly, but don’t panic if the game doesn’t work for you upon downloading it: You’re (unfortunately) not alone.

Ready to take your chance with FIFA Superstars on iPhone? Download it here for free [7] .

Will you try FIFA Superstars on your iPhone/iPad? Have you already tried to download the game, but are running into the issues we mentioned? Have you found a workaround? Let us know in the comments.

Kindle, WSJ, Spotify iOS apps & more lose store links

Multiple iOS apps have been updated this weekend to remove in-app purchasing links, with the WSJ, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, Spotify and others apparently complying with Apple’s stricter rules. Apple quietly updated its terms & conditions back in June , no longer preventing services from selling content outside of apps – as had been originally the case – but insisting that in-app links to external stores be removed.

The Wall Street Journal has confirmed [1] that its iPad app “will soon remove all purchasing options in the app in response to Apple’s new rules.” Whereas before, would-be subscribers could hit a button in the app and be taken to a sign-up page in the iPad’s Safari browser, now they will have to call customer service or manually visit the newspaper’s site.

Similarly, the Kindle for iOS app has been updated, with Amazon saying that v2.8 “removes the Kindle Store button.” Spotify too has an amended version, the changelist of which only includes “compliance with new rules for subscription-based apps.” Ereader apps from Kobo and Barnes & Noble have also been changed so that they no longer link to web-based ebook stores.

“We remain concerned that Apple’s own subscription [rules] would create a poor experience for our readers, who would not be able to directly manage their WSJ account or to easily access our content across multiple platforms” a News Corp spokesperson said of the changes, referring to Apple’s preference for its own in-app purchasing system. While that allows for recurring subscriptions to be bought without leaving the software itself, it also takes a 30-percent cut for Apple’s pocket and limits what access content providers have to subscriber information.

Meanwhile, Google Books is now no longer present in the App Store, with the search giant seemingly choosing to yank its software rather than comply with Apple’s rules.

iOS, Mac App Stores available in 33 more countries | Software | MacUser

Apple has informed registered Mac and iOS developers that the App Stores for both platforms are now available in 33 more countries. As of these latest additions, the iOS and Mac App Stores can now be accessed in 123 nations around the world.

The newest places to join the App Store include Algeria, Angola, Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Azerbaijan, Bahamas, Bahrain, Barbados, Belarus, Belize, Bermuda, Bolivia, British Virgin Islands, Brunei, Cayman Islands, Cyprus, Dominica, Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, Iceland, Montserrat, Nigeria, Oman, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and The Grenadines, Suriname, Tanzania, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos, Uzbekistan, and Yemen.

Not every app is available in every international App Store, either due to licensing restrictions or the preferences of individual developers. However, the vast majority of apps will find their way onto the virtual store shelves of the App Store around the globe, so newcomers ought to have plenty of software from which to choose.

Residents of these 33 countries will, I suspect, be pretty pleased with this development. It can be very frustrating to own an iPhone in a country which does not have a local version of the App Store. As the U.S. store requires a U.S. credit card, and doesn’t even allow PayPal accounts funded by cards from other countries, iPhone users in App Store-less countries have only the few default apps that Apple ships the device with and free Web apps.

Local versions of the App Store will finally allow customers in these countries to use their credit cards to make purchases, even though the prices on most of them will be listed in U.S. dollars and the language will be English. Additionally, the mere presence of the stores will likely help spur iOS and Mac developers native to these countries, not only by providing an avenue to sell their wares, but also by prompting them to develop apps that are specifically useful for their fellow citizens. And, of course, Apple and developers can expand its reach to a bunch of new potential customers.

So if you are reading this on an iPhone somewhere in Nigeria or while sunbathing in the Cayman Islands, fire up the App Store and start browsing. I’m sure you’ll find something that catches your fancy.

How an iPhone Can Bring a Tattoo to Life

via iPhone Download Blog [1] by Sebastien on 7/9/11

Paris based tattoo artist K.A.R.L is probably going to make history with what appears to be the first animated tattoo brought to life with an iPhone. There is no real mystery behind it though.

K.A.R.L tattooed a QR code on his guinea-pig. The QR code was made to display an animation when activated with an QR code reader you can find in the App Store. Not groundbreaking by any means, but still pretty cool… (...)
