CHICAGO, Oct. 31, 2011 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- MapsNshop.com may cater to small businesses, but it thinks big in terms of bringing together businesses and customers. The first geo-social product marketing platform for businesses will soon release an iPhone and Android shopping application for consumers.
"When it comes to helping the economy," said MapsNshop CEO Dare Ajala, "people tend to focus on their own communities first. MapsNshop makes it easy for customers to find - and patronize - their local businesses first."
Economic studies have shown that when consumers patronize locally owned businesses, 30 percent more money stays in the community because of what's known as the multiplier effect. Local businesses pay taxes, use the goods and services of other local businesses and support local programs.
MapsNshop's shopping application makes it easier than ever for customers to support their local businesses. "While consumers have good intentions of supporting their local businesses," said Dare (Derry), "many still prefer the convenience of online shopping. Our new app will let them shop local businesses on their smartphones."
As on the website, with the new app customers will be able to search by product, business or location. However, consumers who search for products using the app will see results showing only products featured by their local businesses on MapsNshop. Businesses can feature up to 10 products free of charge on MapsNshop. As an added incentive, over a five-week period MapsNshop will give away five iPad 2s along with the iPad smart cover - with one-year warranties - to businesses registered on the site. The contending legitimate businesses will have 10 products featured for free and must be within the continental United States to qualify. The first drawing will occur on Friday, November, 4th, 2011. The winners will initially be notified by phone.
"Often, small businesses can't afford to create an online presence on their own," said Dare. "MapsNshop is the perfect solution, because it promotes both online and in-store traffic and sales." Consumers can also forward interesting products and services information they come across to friends and family for reservation or purchase.
Dare explains that MapsNshop is more than just a store locator. The social networking site is designed for businesses and customers to interact with one another. Its logo - "Where businesses and customers mingle" - reflects the community-like nature of the site.
"We've added a new dimension to social media," said Ajala. "Our patent-pending business model is helping businesses and consumers connect on multiple levels. Because MapsNshop encourages two-way communication, we are adding the missing 'human' element to online business transactions. We're establishing an online, multi-level connectivity medium between businesses and consumers, so they both have a hassle-free, time-saving, cost-effective platform to communicate."
