Taxi! Free myTaxi App Ends Late Night Wanderings

After a great night out with your friends there's always the realisation that—upon the evening's close—you need to wander the cold, dark and dangerous streets looking for a taxi. It's a tiresome endeavour that's almost enough to dissuade you from going out in the first place. But now, in this mobile age, there's even an app for that too.

myTaxi is a free iPhone and Android application that takes into consideration where you are, and then identifies nearby taxis. The application uses your phone's in-built GPS technology, combined with Google maps, to provide instant and accurate information on local taxis.

You simply nominate the cab of your choice and the app will relay your location to the driver in the form of a request. If they accept the request, you'll be notified and can watch the driver travel to you through Google maps.

The app isn't defecated by ads and has a built in fare estimator, giving you an idea on how much each commute will set you back.
