I’m a big fan of racing games, so I was psyched to try out Horror Racing on my iPhone, and I have to say I was not disappointed. In fact I had to actually force myself to stop playing it so I could sit down and write this review. And when I’m done? I’ll probably go back to playing.
It’s basically a racing game, but with a fresh theme that stands out among normal games like this.
Unlike most games of this type, Horror Racing challenges you through 15 tracks while you can show off your driving skills. There are crazy weapons, pick ups and upgrades that will keep your heart racing the whole time.
You have to blast your way the tracks while showcasing your driving skills, but throw in the weapons and you’ve got scary fun. It sounds much simpler than it is, but there’s way more to it than meets the eye. You’ll find yourself jumping over ramps while following the track, and navigating tight corners all while steering away from incoming bullets and other things the other drivers are throwing your way. You also need to beat other drivers in collecting different pick ups that give your car advantages. They’re temporary advantages, but they’re still worth picking up.
It sounds much more complicated than it actually is and once you start playing, you’ll catch on pretty quickly. The controls are pretty solid and built for action. There is no gas pedal or brake, just a virtual steering wheel in the corner that you will be surprised how well it works. You simply move your finger around the wheel to control your car. It’s really simple, and once you get the hang of it, it will feel completely natural to take tight corners, fend off enemies and dodge missiles and bullets.
There are several different game modes and lots of customized options which make for exciting and interesting game play. You won’t be able to wait to try them all.
The graphics are really great and the sound effects match. No detail was spared in this unique game of road rage.
Bottom line: If you like racing games at all, then you should get this game. Seriously. Stop what you’re doing and go and download this game, you won’t regret it. Well, if you’re in the middle of something important, you should definitely finish it, as once you get started playing this game, you can kiss productivity out the window.
