Google Maps updated with changes to directions, new sharing options and more

Google Maps 4.8 update

Google Maps recently received an update to its Android app that brought real-time information regarding the user’s arrival time. Now, finally, the feature has made the jump to iOS.

Google updated Maps for iOS on Tuesday, July 7, which brings the version up to 4.8.0. With it, users will see redesigned and newly-improved transit directions, which Google says will improve the overall experiences in cities. Google will also aim to make it easier with real-time arrival information and more route choices, where available.

The new Google Maps will also let users share directions and places to more places, including Facebook and Facebook Messenger.

Here’s the full breakdown from Google:

    • Redesigned and improved Transit directions improve the experience in cities, giving you more route choice and real-time arrival information where available
    • Additional app options for sharing a place (including Facebook and Facebook Messenger)
    • Introduced an Image Gallery for a quick visual understanding of a place through a grid view
    • Bug fixes

The update is available now for those that already have Google Maps installed on their devices. For those that don’t, a link to the app is available below.
