Twitterrific adds facial recognition to properly frame photos, new notifications and more in latest update

On June 11, Twitterrific upgraded its iOS app to version 5.12, adding plenty of noteworthy features . Just over two weeks later, another update is now available for the popular third-party Twitter app.

This update will bump the version number to 5.12.1, and it adds plenty of noteworthy features. The first of which is the addition of facial recognition technology, which Twitterrific says will better frame photos, and allow the app to properly align photo attachments shared through the app to the social network.

Another new addition is a new notification type, which will allow Twitterrific users to get notified when one of their tweets has been quoted in the new “Quote Tweet” feature introduced by Twitter not too long ago . Now, when a user’s tweet is quoted and used by another Twitter user, a settings toggle will let them get notified just like they would for a Mention or Direct Message.

    • Improved readability for notifications on Apple Watch
    • Improved VoiceOver support on Apple Watch

    â€" Improves summaries of listed notifications
    • VoiceOver now reads quoted tweets
    • Minor UI tweaks in Today view

    BUG FIXES

    • Improved reliability of posting tweets & downloading images when backgrounded
    • Adjusted logic when asking to save drafts from the compose screen
    • Fixed a problem when restoring reading position in lists
    • geo.itunes.apple.com URLs now open properly

Twitterrific 5 is available now as a free download, which essentially lets users test out the app. An in-app purchase will remove the advertisements from the service, as well as provide notifications. A link to the app is available below.
