FT launches web app for Apple iPad and iPhone

The Financial Times, business news daily, has unveiled a new FT web app for the Indian market, available directly through a web browser at app.ft.com/india, for the Apple iPad and iPhone. 

While streaming the web address, users can access all stories on the home page for free, exclusively in India.

The FT India app provides customized content which include, top stories from India and as well as prominence of other popular content, including the beyondbrics blog and business education reports. In addition, the iPad application will feature highlights from the prestigious A-list column, the Alphaville blog, and the recently launched Luxury 360, the FT’s new online hub for creative and commercial coverage of the luxury goods industry.

Rob Grimshaw, Managing Director at FT.com, said, "With rapid economic growth and an ever increasing number of talented and influential business leaders, India has long been a strategically important market for Financial Times. The launch of our new app will help the FT accelerate its growth in the region and put our news and analysis straight into the hands of those business people who need it."

Interestingly, the app also provides information while the user is offline. The user can simply add the website to the homescreen for offline access.  The app comes  with an exclusive $49.40 subscription offer for readers in India who purchase their subscription through directly through the app.

The FT app is currently available in the iOS format for iPhone and iPad, but will become available for the Android platform in a week or two.
