Words, words, words, I'm so sick of words. Well, ok, not really. This app will give you both a mobile dictionary and a thesaurus, with more than 2 million words to peruse and choose.
4. Kindle textbook rental app
Once you've installed the free Kindle app, you can rent electronic textbooks online and save half or more off the hard copy price. Plus, there's that whole reading upside down thing.

This app keeps track of your assignments, classwork and projects so you'll never turn anything in late again. Well, we can dream, can't we?

This service lets you make your own free flashcards that help you study any subject from Spanish to math to dermatology, and you can also see flashcard sets that other people have already created. Mobile apps that sync with this software can be downloaded for free.

It goes without saying that one key to success in class is good note-taking skills. This program will help you take notes. You can download it for free to your iPhone or sync with other programs for other types of devices.

This app also helps you take notes, and save and organize the lists, tasks and places you need to remember to be successful in school. Or in life.

Another free reading app that will let you search books in sites like Project Gutenberg looking for the tome you need for your class.

A little short of cash? Here's a website that lists every award and scholarship you can imagine. Instead of reading Facebook when your professor is late, look for some new financial aid instead.
