Apple reportedly poaches four key producers from BBC Radio 1 for its upcoming music streaming service

According to a report from Music Business Worldwide (MBW), Apple has hired four producers from BBC Radio 1 for its upcoming music streaming service.

One of producers that has been poached by Apple is believed to be James Bursey. He will be joining Zane Lowe â€" another BBC producer that Apple had poached earlier this year â€" at Apple’s office in Los Angeles.

While the names of the other three producers are not yet confirmed, it is rumored that Apple has picked up Natasha Lynch and Kieran Yeates. The latter has played a key role in producing BBC Upcoming â€" a talent programme. They will be working from Apple’s office in London.

“There ‘s no denying that there’s something of an exodus to Apple from Radio 1 right now,” a mole within the BBC told MBW.

“With four producers joining Apple, that hiring of Zane all-of-a-sudden makes much more sense, doesn’t it?”

Apple is rumored to launch its own music streaming service at WWDC this year. The subscription service will not allow users to listen to music for free, though its monthly subscription costs will be lower than other competing services.
