Yahoo has just released a major update for the Flickr iPhone app.
The update includes live filters, ability to customize filters, and new professional editing tools that allow you to enhance, crop, sharpen, adjust colors, use levels, add vignettes to photos.
Here’s what’s new:
◠The Flickr Mobile App has a brand new set of filters! With a new range of dynamic and stunning effects you’ll be able to personalize your photos like never before.
â— Live filters! Now you can scroll through and preview the effects of each filter before you snap your shot. Choosing the right one is no longer a guessing game.
◠Tired of stock filters? With the Flickr Mobile App you can customize your filters to get the exact effects you’re looking for.
◠We’ve also got new camera tools. Perfectly compose your shots with awesome grids, pinch to zoom, and the ability to lock your focus and exposure points.
â— Professional editing tools. The editing tools you usually pay for are now free with Flickr. Enhance, crop, sharpen, adjust color, use levels, add vignettes and more.
â— Now our camera and editing tools have beautifully animated transitions, giving users the best camera experience yet.
The user interface of the Flickr app reminds me a lot of iOS 7 Camera app . To apply a filter, you need to tap on the iOS 7-style icon at the bottom. It displays live thumbnail previews of the filter, which you can scroll through horizontally with a swipe. To apply the filter, tap on the thumbnail, then tap on the thumbnail again to access the controls to customize the filter.
You also have the option to customize the filter by applying effects such as Vignette (tap to adjust vignette), two types of Tilt Shift (two finger touch to tilt & shift the focus), Bursts and Worn. For Bursts and Worn, you need to twist with two fingers to cycle through the different effects.
In addition to the filters, you can use editing tools to enhance, crop, sharpen, adjust color, and use levels to edit the photos.
Features still on my wish list:
- An iPad app, which makes a lot more sense now with the new editing tools.
You can download the update for free from the Updates tab in the App Store app or download the app for free using this direct iTunes link [1] .
The most intriguing thing is the user interface, it is quite similar to the iOS 7 Camera app, which seems to suggest that Yahoo and Apple may have worked together on the iOS 7 Camera app.
