French blog iGen reports that Apple is planning to launch its AppleCare+ extended warranty program in the Europe soon.
Apple had launched the $99 AppleCare+ extended warranty program for iPhone in the U.S in October 2011. AppleCare+ replace the AppleCare protection plan.
AppleCare+Â extends the 90 day technical support and one year of hardware repair coverage that you get when you buy an iPhone, to two years.
AppleCare+ also includes coverage for up to two incidents of accidental damage due to handling. Apple charges $49 as service fee for replacement of devices. Apple has also started offering AppleCare+ for the iPad. It has also launched the program in Canada and Japan so far.
Apple currently offers AppleCare protection plan for iPhone and iPad to customers in Europe, which provides up to two years of expert telephone technical support and warranty related claims. However, it does not cover accidental damage.
Apple has come under criticism over its warranty policies in some European countries. Apple has also been fined in Italy for failing to adequately explain their 2-year warranty program to customers.
So it makes sense for Apple to finally bring AppleCare+ protection plan to Europe.
