The new Kinect is going to kill redemption codes

XBox-One-Kinect-Sensor-Front-Large

Look, I get that a ton of you do not like the Kinect. And quite frankly, I agree with you, when it comes to the current version of it. Quite frankly, it’s horrible and crap. But the Kinect on the Xbox One? It’s worth the extra cash. Especially when it encourages this kind of slothful behaviour.

Now, I don’t know about you guys, but when it comes to redeeming codes, I’m an absolute failure in life. I just can’t get my stupid fingers to fing in those long chains of consonants and numbers, in order to redeem myself a copy of Ride to Hell: Retribution.

And some days, I have to physically hit ctrl+C, navigate to the Xbox website, find the redemption box, click on it, and then hit ctrl+V. And then I have to click again in order to activate it. It’s freakin’ hard being a gamer!

But the upcoming Xbox One is going to cure me of my effortilism. You see, with the new Kinect, it can actually make QR codes useful instead of being annoying squiggles of website-direction. From the Twitter account of Xbox’s corporate VP himself, Marc Whitten:

Now be aware, it still requires you to physically lift your arm and hold it still so that the code can be scanned, but it’s a massive step forward. Suck it, current Kinect.
