Doodle Cannon free iPhone app review

Doodle Cannon : 4 Out of 5

If you haven’t yet heard of Doodle Cannon you’re not alone. While browsing the App Store I came across quite a few games with the name Doodle in there and some are fun, others not so much but I thought I’d give this one a shot and I’ve been happy with my decision thus far.

I’m constantly looking for some of the best free apps [1] for iPhone trying to add to my collection but when I stumbled upon this one I did have a few reservations; so far I’m really loving it! What I find most interesting about this game is that the gameplay is very simple. You are the cannon and your main and only objective is to blow up the monster located on the screen. You can move the cannon up and down but not back and forth so you need to be somewhat strategic in your gameplay as you only get so many cannon balls.

When you press on the red fire button the longer you hold it the more power the ball gains. Once you’ve completed the level successfully, by destroying the monster, you are given a medal unlike some games that give you stars for successful completions. The medal awarding is based on the number of bombs that you needed to use in order to blow up your enemy. The least amount of bombs you use the better and it will increase your overall rating.

There are 30 different levels featured in this game and each is more challenging as you move up in the boards. Another great feature is the ability to play multi-player. That means you no longer have to play alone and you can share the fun with others! What’s unique is instead of both players playing the game on different devices you both share the same device and try to take out the monster first. So instead of being referred to as multi-player it should be referred to as a pass-and-play game.

What’s really cool and cute about this game is that it looks a drawing on a piece of paper, hence the word “doodle.” I’m sure that you’ve noticed that if you’ve played any of the other “Doodle” titled games available in the App Store today, and there are a few!

Overall I really enjoy this one and I think it will be sticking around for a while on my phone. It’s great because it’s enjoyable for all ages, not just younsters and not just adults. However, the younger kids may have a bit of a harder time with it simple because it is a strategic-based game that requires some thought and logic.

If you’re looking for a fun game to add to your list of addictions then you should stop by the App Store and check this one out. I’ve already recommended it to several of my friends and I’ve been playing it almost everyday. Even though it’s not new to the market it’s definitely new to me and I’m very pleased I came across it.
