The business-oriented social site LinkedIn has long been accessible to smartphones thanks to client apps for Android [1] and iPhone, but now there's a LinkedIn app for iPad [2] too.
We generally use only the desktop browser to access our LinkedIn account, but after perusing the free app's interface for a few minutes, we wished that the browser version was organized this way. The mobile-device version clearly segments sections for updates and incoming news, inbox messages, people in your network and your personal profile. Of course all those things are easily accessible through the browser versions, but dividing them by type seemed an intuitive way also to focus the time we spend using the app.
The iPad version adds a left-pane calendar that links with the iPad calendar and ties your appointments to LinkedIn data of the people you're meeting (if any) to help with sales calls, interviews and other B2B contacts. The capability also was added to the Android and iPhone versions of the excellent (and free) LinkedIn app.
