Shopkick AppShopkick is yet another smartphone app you can use to benefit yourself while you shop! It’s available for both iPhone and the Android, and it’s free to install. I have this one on my phone, and it’s actually very very similar to the Checkpoints app , which I love using.

How does Shopkick Work?

Download the app free to your iPhone or Android, and then remember to use it when you shop. You get “kicks” (redeemable points) for simply checking yourself in through the app at a variety of different stores. When you’re about to go shopping, just update your location to see if the place you’re visiting shows up — nine times out of ten it will. Then, check in and while you’re inside, see what else you can do. Sometimes Shopkick users get special deals at these stores available only to them. You will also see different products you can scan with your phone while you’re shopping, and you’ll get points for doing this too.

What can you redeem your kicks for?

All kinds of different things. If you don’t like to wait and let your points build up, you can cash out for gift cards for amounts up to $25 and as low as $5, restaurant vouchers, and movie tickets. If you’re a patient type of person and don’t mind waiting a long time to let your points build, you can cash out for HDTV’s and other high-dollar items. Shopkick also has a charity option with about 30 different charities to choose from if you’d prefer to redeem your points and request that money be sent to any of those.

Does Shopkick have a referral program?

They do, and it’s very similar to the one Checkpoints has. I like it because it benefits both people — you’re much better off to download Shopkick and put in a person’s referral code than not to  use a referral code because you get bonus points if you’ve been referred by someone. If you sign up without being referred, then you don’t get those points. And then of course the person who refers you gets more points too, so it’s a mutually beneficial situation.

My experience with Shopkick so far

I admit that I don’t use this one as much as I use Checkpoints, but I have used it a little and I like it. I need to put it to work a little more and see how much longer it takes me to redeem for a gift card with it than it does with Checkpoints.

Want to download the Shopkick app?

You can do a search in your iPhone app store or in the Android market for Shopkick and download it free to your phone, and then just start using it every time you go shopping. If you would like a referral code to sign up with so you can get the bonus points, feel free to use mine :) Just put in crocodile7488 when you are prompted for the code, and thank you in advance!
