CampusBooks.com [1] is offering tech-savvy students a faster and easier way to save money on textbooks this year, with free smartphone [2] applications [3] that scan barcodes, use GPS, and engage CampusBooks’ giant aggregation database to offer students the best prices on textbooks.

Using the CampusBooks iPhone [4] or Android application, students can scan barcodes or manually search for books, and the site’s price aggregation program will show them the best deals on new, used, rental and e-textbooks.

CampusBooks is the largest textbook price comparison website. The service compares prices from Amazon, Chegg and Half as well as over 40 other online textbook vendors. In addition, the CampusBooks apps are GPS-enabled and allows students to view and compare prices at college and local bookstores based on their current geo-location. For example, a Michigan State University student who needs a Shakespeare book by tomorrow can see prices at two local bookstores and availability at four local libraries, in addition to the best prices online.

"Our goal is to help students find the textbooks they need, online, in store or from the library. The student can then make the choice where they want to buy," says CampusBooks [5] CEO, Jeff Cohen. "The CampusBooks Android and iPhone applications are the best on the market. Other apps offer barcode scanning, but our app is the first technology to offer students textbook prices and availability from websites, college bookstores and libraries."

Waiting the week for an Amazon.com delivery isn’t always an option for students, nor are the expensive prices of many on-campus bookstores. Off-campus bookstores and borrowing from libraries are often overlooked, and can save students hundreds. CampusBooks.com has led the textbook price comparison market online since 1999, and now with their easy-to-use applications, they show they understand the needs of the tech-savvy, cash-strapped and sometimes last-minute student.
