iPhone 6 rumored to have NFC as leaked photos of alleged Logic Board surface

Logic Board iPhone 6

The latest leaked photos for the oft-rumored iPhone 6 have hit the web this weekend, this time showing what could be the logic board for the upcoming smartphone. According to French website Nowhereelse.fr, the source of these leaked photos, the iPhone 6 could have NFC and faster 802.11ac Wi-Fi.

It is not the first time that a next-generation iPhone has been rumored to gain NFC, as it has been speculated that Apple will include the close-proximity technology in a future iPhone for several years. The leaked photos do not provide any sort of visual evidence that the iPhone 6 will have NFC or a new Wi-Fi standard.

While the rumors of NFC are harder to believe, considering that it seems like they occur on a yearly or even monthly basis, it would make sense for Apple to adopt 802.11ac Wi-Fi in the next iPhone now that the chips are readily available.

Overall, the logic board looks rather similar in a side-by-side comparison with the same internal component for the iPhone 5s. The purported iPhone 6 logic board does have one notable difference, that being a longer piece that extends across the top of the component with what appears to be three large screw or mounting holes.

As the iPhone 6 is expected to have a larger frame, to account for the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch screens, it would make sense that Apple could have more room to adjust the size and shape of the internal components in the smartphone. The leaked logic board’s screw holes also line up with the purported rear shall of the iPhone 6 .

Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 6 in September in both 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch models, although the latter may have a delayed release because of production issues. The smartphone should come with iOS 8 preinstalled.
